The City of Longview's Volunteer Center hosts several volunteer programs and projects intended to better the community. Caring individuals and groups play a vital role in community wellness. In addition to helping the community another benefit is the satisfaction one can feel in knowing that their efforts have value.
There are many reasons to volunteer! One may find their "just right for me" activity working with children in the Partners for Prevention Program, or helping in the Public Library with the day to day functions. Volunteers for Computer Lab Classes sharpen their skills and learn new ones. Pawn Shop Detail volunteers assist the Criminal Investigation Division in recovering lost or stolen property. The Accessible Parking volunteers help enforce the Handicap Parking regulations around the city.
Beautifying your community with litter control is another way to say you care. Many opportunities are availabel here such as: Adopt a Park, Adopt a Street, or by participating in the April or October Citywide Cleanup. The Waterway Cleanup in February has a special emphasis in keeping our waterways clean and educating everyone not to pollute.
And as an added bonus the City provides Recycling events during the year for passenger car tires, light truck tires, and electronics.
